Meet kay carlson

Hey guys, i’m Kay Carlson! I’m from Western New York, about an hour outside of Buffalo, NY. I’m 22 years old and first got into fitness when I was just 16. After a few years of being pretty inconsistent with the gym and focusing a lot on cardio, weight lifting quickly became a strong passion of mine my junior year of college and has been the center of my life ever since. As a young woman who used to believe in the stereotype that “women who lift look manly,” my goal is to show other women that that isn’t true. Sharing my journey on social media has allowed me to connect with so many empowering individuals while also empowering other woman to love themselves in the body they are in while working for the body that they want.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO THE FITNESS LIFESTYLE

With the rise of social media during my teen years and into my college years, it became a habit to constantly compare myself to others in terms of my body. After years of feeling like I was making no progress and I would never have my dream body, I decided to make a change and give 100% to achieve my fitness goals and become the girl I once looked up to. Getting into the fitness lifestyle has given me the self-love and confidence that I had never had before. 

Who are your Heroes and why 

My hero’s are my parents by far. My dad has raised me to be driven and hard-working in every aspect of my life from a very young age. I’ve always looked up to him for how hard he works to make my family proud, and that’s led me to push myself to make my family proud as well. My mom has always been my biggest supporter and has taught me how important it is to do what makes you happy regardless of other people’s opinions. Her support is the reason I continue to follow my passion for fitness. Everything I do is to make them proud, and I would never have gotten to where I am today without them.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE YOU LIVE BY 

“Imagine where you could be by this time next year.” 


I think about this quote every single day and I can confidently say that it has changed my life. Any time i’m feeling unmotivated, any time I feel like i’m failing or like I want to give up, I think about where I could be at this time next year if I keep pushing. 

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE OF ALL TIME

Deadlifts have my ENTIRE heart! For years, i’ve made it my mission to be a beast when it comes to deadlifting. It quickly became the heaviest movement I could do and that has never changed and I don’t think it ever will!  

WHAT DOES "REIGN FROM WITHIN" MEAN TO YOU

To me, “reign from within” means that we all have the strength inside of us to accomplish anything we set our mind to. Many people doubt themselves or think that their dreams may be unachievable, but the truth is that we are all capable of so much more than we may realize. It’s crucial to find the strength within yourself to follow your dreams and to work as hard as you can to reach your goals and become the best you can be. Reign from within means that if you believe in yourself, anything is possible. 

WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST MOTIVATION (WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING)

Knowing i’m able to make a positive impact on other people’s lives and inspire them to be their best and strongest self is what keeps me going. Changing even one person’s life motivates me enough to want to keep following this passion I have for fitness and share that journey with those supporting me!

HOW HAS STREIGNTH CHANGED YOUR LIFE

Streignth has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing and like-minded individuals with the same goals and aspirations as myself. Growing up in a very small town, I was very sheltered from meeting new individuals and people who had the same passions as I do. Being able to support others on the Streignth team and receiving the same love and support back has given me so much confidence in myself and has driven me to work even harder to achieve amazing things in the fitness industry and empower others to do the same.

Kay started getting into fitness when she was just 16, but she would normally just do cardio and didn't take it as seriously. Everyone starts somewhere!

Junior year of college was when Kay really developed her passion for lifting. She's really developed a love for sharing her story on social media while helping other women not be afraid to pick up the weights.

Kay shares the SAME mindset our team has and is hungry to grow and make a difference. Now as an Athlete, we're excited to have Kay help lead our movement.
