I got into fitness because things don’t just happen, we make them happen. I never intended to love fitness as much as I do, but it’s become my safe place. I can go out there and leave it all on the floor, in doing so I found it to be something I could become seriously passionate about. Once I started weightlifting it quickly became apart of me. The feeling of becoming stronger everyday and seeing myself not only improve physically, but also mentally is so rewarding. I love pushing myself in all degrees of life, the gym is just another avenue of me trying to be my best self everyday. At the end of the day your only competition is yourself.

Meet sherilyn markman
Hey everyone! I’m Sherilyn Markman! I’m from New Jersey, but I’m now living outside of Denver, CO! I’m a full-time student at the University of Denver pursuing my masters degree in social work. I plan to combine my degree and passion for fitness someday! I got into weight lifting this past summer and it’s transformed my life! It’s become my lifestyle. As a young girl I struggled with body image. I never felt like I had the “ideal body” or the body society approved of. Now my goal is to show woman that there is no ideal body, that they are beautiful the way they are. That weightlifting and fitness isn’t about just looking your best, but feeling your best. I want to encourage woman to take up space in the gym! Weightlifting to me is my happy place and I love that I get to share that on social media with you all!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE OF ALL TIME
My favorite exercise of all time would have to be leg presses! I love how strong they make me feel! Lately I’ve gotten into olympic weight lifting and I love those exercises too!
WHAT DOES "REIGN FROM WITHIN" MEAN TO YOU
Reign from within for me means embracing your true full self. It means bettering and growing all aspects of yourself. It’s not just physical, it’s mental and emotional. It’s about being the best and strongest version of yourself. Being a warrior inside and out.
WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST MOTIVATION (WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING)
My biggest motivation are my goals. Goals simply keep me going. They allow me to push, and challenge myself beyond what I may think is possible. I also don’t allow myself to rely on motivation. I won’t always be motivated, so I must learn to be disciplined. I remind myself how important my goals are even on the days that I’m tired, busy, or just unmotivated. I always try to make sure I stay true to my discipline and goals and get up and keep going.
HOW HAS STREIGNTH CHANGED YOUR LIFE
Streignth has given me a place to express my passion for fitness. It’s given me a team of people who all encourage and support each other. Being able to represent Streignth motivates and empowers me to do better everyday!
Back in 2018, Sheri was at a low point and She was struggling with body image and low self-esteem. She felt a lack of identity and knew something was missing. That's when her path to fitness began- weightlifting especially is what did it for her.
After finishing 75 Hard in February 2021, Sheri became obsessed with the progress and the gym atmosphere itself. Lifting gave her the power to feel strong to see her mind and body change- completely changing her outlook on life.
Sheri lives the Streignth Mentality and shares nothing but good vibes with everyone she comes in contact with. We are stoked to have her now helping lead The Lion Order.
